The School Day
Opening times
The gates open at 8.35 am every morning. The children in Year 2 to Year 6 walk in through the side entrance by the Library (without parents) and the children in Year 1 and Reception class enter the school gate by the kitchen (with parents).
The school day officially starts at 8.45 and if the children have started to enter the building between 8.35 and 8.40, then they will be ready to start the day promptly. If your child enters the school after 8.45 am, they will be marked in the register as late.
We, therefore, ask all parents to help their children develop the skill of good punctuality by arriving at the school between 8.30 and 8.35. There is no need to arrive any earlier than 8.30 but we do ask that you remain with your child/ren until a member of staff opens the gate at 8.35. The children are your responsibility until they enter the school building.
Morning Break
The children have a 15 minute break time each morning at 10.40 am. The children in KS1 use the front playground and the children in KS2 use the back playground. On Fridays, we have a family break time and all children then use the back playground.
Assemblies
There is an assembly every day for the whole school.
Monday | 10.20 - 10.35 |
Tuesday | 1.10 - 1.30 |
Wednesday | 10.20 - 10.35 |
Thursday | 10.20 - 10.35 |
Friday | 2.20 - 2.50 |
Lunch time
The lunch break is between 12 and 1 pm. The children in the Reception class tend to go in slightly earlier at the beginning of the year so that they get used to the hall system. The children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will have their lunches first. The children in the KS2 classes then come in to the hall from the playground on a rotation basis.
Pick up
The day finishes at 3pm for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and 3.10 for children in Year 3 to Year 6.
At 2.55 the gates by the kitchen will be opened and the parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 can then collect their children from the classroom doors.
The gates for KS2 (Year 3 to Year 6) will open at 3.05 where, again, the parents can walk round to the back playground to pick their child/ren up from the classroom door.
Polite notices
We politely ask that children do not use scooters or bikes whilst on the school premises as these cause accidents due to the huge numbers of people entering and exiting the school premises at the start and end of the day.
Children are also not allowed to use the trim trail equipment at the start and end of the day. We rely on parents to tell their children to come off the equipment if they go on it.
We also ask that no animals come onto the school site at any time.
