Cooking

You may have heard the tale about the invention of the ‘pancake’.

There was once a family living in a cottage. The children were all so hungry but all they had in the cupboard was flour, an egg and some milk. So, the mum whisked all the ingredients together and fried the mixture in a pan. The children were served the now cooked mixture and named them ‘pancakes.’

This is an example of how someone invented a new recipe.

Can you design and make a new recipe, for your family to try, out of the things in your cupboards?

Remember to give your invention a name.

You could write the ingredients and method out and make a page for a cookbook.

Ideas:

A new type of sandwich

A new type of cake or biscuit

A new type of snack

Can you find a piece of clothing and see how many ways you can wear it?

Structural

Get building:

Design and make an obstacle course at home or in the garden. How fast can you complete it?

You could build a lego model or a tower out of playing cards. How tall can your model be?

Can you make a den to play in? How big or comfy can it be?

Junk modelling

Collect and recycle materials such as yoghurt pots, toilet rolls and boxes and see what you can create with them.
