WLPS is committed to raising the achievement of all pupils. Regular attendance and good punctuality is crucial if pupils are going to be successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them. As such, all children are expected to attend school regularly and we actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils.

Headteachers are not permitted to authorise holidays taken during term time. If you require leave of absence for your child during term time, an absence request form should be completed and handed in to the office to notify us that your child will be absent from school. In rare and exceptional circumstances the leave may be authorised, however in all other circumstances this period of absence will be marked as ‘unauthorised’. It is important to be aware that 5 days of unauthorised absence can often be enough to trigger further action or in some circumstances a fixed penalty notice.
Absence due to illness
In cases of illness, parents are asked to telephone the school on 01268 753 652 and speak to a member of the office team or leave a message on the absence line.
It is important that you phone on the first day of absence, before 9.15 am (where possible).
If the absence continues for any length of time, please keep the school updated.
A note confirming the reason for absence should be sent in with your child upon their return.
Please note that absence due to sickness or diarrhoea requires your child to be away from school for 48 hours.
